What’s in a Name?
Windflower is inspired by native prairie blooms that thrive in open, windswept landscapes surrounding Medicine Hat.
These flowers bend with the wind while continuing to grow, reflecting a quiet strength shaped by the land. The name suggests a place where residents can arrive with confidence, feeling settled in an environment that respects both independence and support.
Our community is represented by a windflower which speaks to adaptability and continuity. Like the flower, Windflower is designed to support residents through different stages of living, supporting individuals as needs change.
Windflower reflects a community grounded in resilience and everyday connection. Residents, families, and team members come together through daily life and shared experience. It is a place where people can feel supported and at ease, in a setting that feels calm and steady.

A community built with heart
In 2007, two longtime friends and healthcare professionals, Karim Kassam and Farid F. Damji, dreamed of a better way to care for seniors. Having watched their own parents and grandparents age with dignity and love, they felt called to extend that same level of care to others. Over a cup of coffee and a restaurant napkin, the foundation for Optima Living was born—a community built not just with bricks but with heart. In 2015, with the addition of Ali Shivji as a Principal, our leadership team expanded, along with our impact.
